Dearest Reader,
Have you ever imagined stepping into your favorite Netflix show? I was invited to design a table based on everyone’s favorite historical romance series, Bridgerton, along with some other incredibly talented wedding pros. The best part was it all benefitted a local non-profit, Nourish KC! Their mission is to rescue fresh local food, prepare nutritious meals, and serve as a community partner to address hunger’s core causes.
I loved seeing how each designer interpreted the challenge of creating an immersive, modern-take, on the Bridgerton theme. Opulence, grandeur, and beauty were evident in every aspect of the evening from the venue to the live music and of course the breathtaking decor. I could just imagine the people of the ‘ton’ promenading amongst the lush florals and dramatic tablescapes.
For my table, I chose a fully mirrored rectangular option. The chairs were upholstered round back chairs with a natural linen texture. I opted to lean into the garden scene where so much of the first season’s plot unfolded between Daphne & The Duke. We created a backdrop using 3 large boxwood walls, accented with an ornate gold mirror. On the mirror was inscribed my favorite line from season one, “I burn for you.” Gold rimmed glassware seemed the obvious choice for such a formal and opulent setting. While the centerpiece eludes to a garden statue overflowing with lush flowers in pink and green. Even the stationery harkened back to the garden idea, using lattice themed patterns in soft pink and green. Velvet napkins added to the textural symphony of luxury. While crystal candlesticks and votives created a glowing ambiance that only grew more romantic as the sun set, reflecting from the mirrored surface of the table.
Dear reader, you be the judge. Would you call this design the “diamond of the season”?
